Summary of “International of Blues Foundation”
Blues music is created by African American in rural south of
the United Sates in the late 1800s. It is reflected the social conditions of
African American peoples. It is reflected the social conditions of them.
History of the blues begin in the Middle Passage which was long journey during
Africans were brought to USA. They came with little expect memories of their homeland
and cultural traditions. They faced many difficulties, they were sold for
slave. In short, they lived bad life and they started sing song about it.
In
1600-1865. Firstly, they sang oral,
passed from generation to next generation the oral tradition. In 1865, the 13th
Amendment to the U.S. Constitution abolished slavery. They got freedom, but
didn’t full equality and was discrimination. After that, more musical
instruments were available to them, they started use. Songs began to focus on
all aspects of life. For example; freedom, traveling, work, hope and love. etc.
The earliest form of blues was called country
blues and musicians were mostly men. When musicians moved to big cities, their
songs began update to urban sound.
